What this calculator does
- Semester GPA calculator: add every course from the semester with its credit hours and the letter grade from your transcript. A per-course breakdown table shows every multiplication — credit hours × grade points = quality points — so you can cross-check the arithmetic against your own result.
- CGPA tracker: enter the credit hours you have completed and your CGPA before this semester, then add the new semester's courses. The tracker converts your old CGPA back into quality points and folds them together using the running-average method.
- Academic standing checker: enter your CGPA, this semester's GPA, your semester number, and your school group. The checker tells you whether you are clear, on warning, on probation, or meeting the graduation floor — 2.00 for most undergraduate programmes, 2.50 for the Business & Management and Social Sciences schools.
- Official 8-grade scale: A (4.00), B+ (3.50), B (3.00), C+ (2.50), C (2.00), D+ (1.50), D (1.00), F (0.00). There are no minus grades at NUST — no A−, B−, or C− — and this scale is applied uniformly across all NUST schools and constituent institutions.
- Letter-grade input only: because NUST's relative grading publishes no fixed percentage bands, the calculator never asks for your percentage marks.
- Correct F handling: a failed course earns no credit, but its credit hours stay in the GPA denominator — which is how the Examination Branch treats it, and which many generic calculators get wrong. An XF (attendance-shortage F) behaves the same way.
How to use it
- Open the calculator page and choose the tab you need: Semester GPA, CGPA, or Standing.
- For a semester GPA, add every course you took this semester — its credit hours and the letter grade exactly as it appears on your transcript (D+ and D are undergraduate-only pass grades; F earns 0.00 and no credit). Press calculate, then check the per-course breakdown table against your own result.
- For CGPA, first enter your completed credit hours and your current CGPA before this semester, then add this semester's courses in the same way. The tracker merges them into your new CGPA.
- For standing, enter your CGPA, this semester's GPA, your semester number, and your school group. The checker applies NUST's actual rules: probation only when CGPA falls below 2.00 (never in the first semester), a warning for a semester GPA below 2.00 or any F/XF grade, and the 2.00 vs 2.50 graduation floor by school group.
- Plan ahead with what-if rows: swap a grade for the one you expect and watch how the semester GPA and CGPA move before your results are official.
Who should use this
Any NUST undergraduate student in any school or constituent institution — from engineering and computing programmes to business and social sciences — who wants a result that matches the official scale instead of a generic estimate. Parents who track their child's academic progress can verify grades without learning the formula. Final-year students sitting near the 2.00 or 2.50 graduation floor can model exactly what their remaining semesters must deliver. Freshmen benefit too: the first-semester probation exception is a rule many new students misunderstand, and the standing checker gets it right. And if you carry an F or XF grade, the calculator shows its true cost to your GPA — and your standing — so you can decide about a repeat with real numbers.
Why use StudyCalc's version
Most "NUST GPA calculators" are generic tools wearing a NUST title: they paste an HEC-style 11-grade table, invent minus grades NUST does not award, or map percentages through fixed bands that contradict NUST's relative-grading policy. StudyCalc's version is built on NUST's actual 8-grade half-point scale, sourced from the NUST Undergraduate Student Handbook (Revised 2025). It asks for letter grades — the only honest input under relative grading — keeps failed courses' hours in the denominator, and applies the real standing rules: warning vs probation, the first-semester exception, and the 2.50 graduation floor for Business & Management and Social Sciences. It is free, needs no signup, and works on any phone, tablet, or laptop.

Frequently asked questions
Does NUST use relative or absolute grading?
Relative. University policy awards grades on a 1.00–4.00 scale by comparing each student's performance with the class cohort. The letter grade floats with the class; the grade points attached to each letter are fixed.
What CGPA do I need to graduate from NUST?
Most undergraduate programmes require a minimum CGPA of 2.00. Students in the Business & Management and Social Sciences schools need a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
Can I enter my percentage marks instead of letter grades?
No. NUST publishes no fixed percentage-to-letter bands because grading is relative to your cohort, so any percentage-based calculation would be a guess. Enter the letter grades from your transcript and the maths is exact.
What is the difference between an academic warning and probation at NUST?
A semester GPA below 2.00, or any F/XF grade, triggers an academic warning. Probation is a separate status that applies when CGPA falls below 2.00 — and it cannot apply in the first semester.

NUST GPA Calculator — Free Semester GPA and CGPA Calculator for Pakistani Students (2026)
If you study at the National University of Sciences and Technology, the NUST GPA Calculator is the free online tool Pakistani students use to compute their semester GPA and CGPA exactly the way NUST's Examination Branch does. It runs on NUST's official 8-grade relative scale — A (4.00) down to D (1.00), with no minus grades — and never substitutes a generic HEC table. Whether you are checking a single semester or tracking four years of CGPA, the maths is exact.
Why does a NUST-specific calculator matter? Because NUST uses relative grading: your letter grade depends on how your class cohort performed, not on fixed percentage bands. Any tool that asks for your percentage marks and maps, say, 85–89% to an A is inventing a scale NUST does not use. This calculator asks for the letter grades from your transcript — the same inputs your result sheet carries — so there is nothing for it to guess wrong.
Built into the same free page are three tools: a semester GPA calculator with a full per-course breakdown table, a CGPA tracker that folds your new semester into your running average, and an academic standing checker that tells you plainly whether you are clear, on warning, on probation, or meeting your programme's graduation floor. No account, no download — it works right in your phone's browser.
