Add every course with its credit hours and letter grade — GIKI publishes letters and grade points only, with no official percentage bands, so this calculator takes letters (the same design as our IBA and FAST tools). Pick I or W for withdrawn/incomplete courses: they are excluded from the GPA. There is deliberately no A+ option — GIKI does not award one.
Enter your previous CGPA and completed credit hours, then this semester's credits and GPA. For repeated courses, enter the latest grade only — GIKI counts the most recent attempt toward the CGPA, even when it is lower than the original.
GIKI's standing rules: semester GPA below 2.00 → probation — a probationer may register for only 10–13 credit hours. Falling below 2.00 in two consecutive regular semesters (summer excluded) → warning; continued failure after the warning → removal from the rolls. Freshmen who hit probation in both of their first two semesters may restart afresh instead of continuing on probation.
GIKI's repeat rule, applied honestly: an F in a required course must be repeated in full; D and D+ grades may be repeated within 3 semesters. All attempts stay on the transcript, but only the latest grade counts toward the CGPA — even if it is lower. Simulate the outcome before you commit.
How to use this calculator
- Semester GPA: add one row per course — name (optional), credit hours, and the official letter grade. The calculator maps each letter to GIKI's official grade points, then computes GPA = Σ (grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours. I and W rows are excluded from both sums.
- CGPA Tracker: enter previous CGPA with completed credit hours plus this semester's figures: CGPA = (prev CGPA × prev credits + sem GPA × sem credits) ÷ total credits.
- Standing Checker: enter this semester's GPA, whether the previous regular semester was also below 2.00, and freshman status. The verdict applies GIKI's probation (10–13 credit-hour cap), warning, and removal rules — plus the freshman fresh-restart option.
- Repeat Analyser: enter the course's credit hours, your original grade, the grade you expect on the repeat, your current CGPA and total credits. The tool applies the latest-counts rule and shows your CGPA before and after — with an explicit warning when the repeat would lower your CGPA.
Do not enter percentage marks — GIKI publishes no official marks→letter bands, so any percentage-based GIKI calculator is mapping your marks through an invented table (see the corrections section). Use the letter grade on your result notification.
The official GIKI grading scale
This is the grade list exactly as GIKI's official Academic Setup page prints it (giki.edu.pk/academics/academic-setup/, read in full 2026-10-16). Two things to notice. First, the grade points are the .67/.33 family (A− 3.67, B+ 3.33) — not the rounded 3.70/3.30 values some calculators use, and not the 3.70-family of Punjab University's separate scale. Second, GIKI publishes no percentage column at all: letters are awarded on overall academic performance, so a letters-only calculator is the only honest design. Any page that maps your percentage to a GIKI letter grade is inventing a table GIKI never published.
| Letter grade | Grade points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| A | 4.00 | Highest grade — there is no A+ at GIKI |
| A− | 3.67 | |
| B+ | 3.33 | |
| B | 3.00 | |
| B− | 2.67 | |
| C+ | 2.33 | |
| C | 2.00 | |
| C− | 1.67 | |
| D+ | 1.33 | May be repeated within 3 semesters |
| D | 1.00 | May be repeated within 3 semesters |
| F | 0.00 | In a required course: must be repeated in full |
| I / W | — | Incomplete / Withdrawal — carry no points, excluded from the GPA |
Worked examples (every step verified)
Example 1 — a five-course semester → 3.22
A second-year student takes: A (3 cr), B+ (3 cr), B (4 cr), C+ (3 cr), A− (2 cr).
- Quality points: A 4.00×3 = 12.00; B+ 3.33×3 = 9.99; B 3.00×4 = 12.00; C+ 2.33×3 = 6.99; A− 3.67×2 = 7.34
- Total: 12.00 + 9.99 + 12.00 + 6.99 + 7.34 = 48.32 quality points over 15 credit hours
- SGPA = 48.32 ÷ 15 = 3.2213… → 3.22
Example 2 — what the wrong table costs: the 0.37 error
Take a straight-A− semester over 15 credit hours. On the official scale: 15 × 3.67 = 55.05 ÷ 15 = 3.67. On the most popular rival calculator's table (which prints A− as 3.30): 15 × 3.30 = 49.50 ÷ 15 = 3.30. The rival's table understates the semester by 0.37 GPA points — the difference between a strong transcript and a mediocre one, manufactured entirely by a wrong column. A straight-B semester shows the same pattern: 3.00 official vs 2.70 on their table (0.30 error).
Example 3 — the repeat that hurts: B → C+ on 60 credits
A student holds CGPA 3.10 over 60 credit hours (186.00 quality points) and repeats a 3-credit course where she originally earned a B, expecting a C+.
- Remove the old contribution: 186.00 − (3.00 × 3) = 177.00
- Add the new one: 177.00 + (2.33 × 3) = 183.99
- New CGPA = 183.99 ÷ 60 = 3.0665 → 3.07 — the repeat lowered the CGPA by 0.03
The reverse case shows the rule's upside: repeating a 3-credit D and earning a B gives (186.00 − 3.00 + 9.00) ÷ 60 = 192.00 ÷ 60 = 3.20, a gain of 0.10. The Repeat Analyser above runs both directions before you commit.
Example 4 — CGPA tracker: 2.90 over 45 credits + a 3.22 semester
- Previous: 2.90 × 45 = 130.50 quality points
- This semester: 3.22 × 15 = 48.30
- New CGPA = (130.50 + 48.30) ÷ 60 = 178.80 ÷ 60 = 2.98
Example 5 — standing: a 1.85 semester
Semester GPA 1.85 is below 2.00 → probation: next semester the student may register for only 10–13 credit hours. If the following regular semester is also below 2.00 → warning; continued failure after the warning → removal from the rolls. (Summer semesters do not count toward the two-consecutive rule.) A freshman in this position may instead restart afresh after two probations in the first two semesters.

Corrections: what other GIKI calculators get wrong
We audited the three GIKI calculator pages ranking in this query's results on 2026-10-16. Every claim below was verified against GIKI's official Academic Setup page the same day.
- The entire grade-point column is wrong (gpacalculator.pk). Their "GIKI grading system" table prints A = 3.7, A− = 3.3, B+ = 3.0, B = 2.7, B− = 2.3, C+ = 2.0, C = 1.7 — every row 0.30–0.37 below the official values. It also adds a nonexistent A+, attaches invented percentage bands (A+ 90–100% etc.), and drops the C− and D+ rows entirely. The 0.37 error in Example 2 is their table's output, computed above.
- A phantom A+ (calculatorall.pk). Their grading table lists "A+ and A: 4.00 points" — and their calculator lets you select A+. GIKI's official grade list contains no A+: the top grade is a plain A at 4.00. Selecting A+ on their calculator emits a grade the institute never awards.
- No table at all (gpacalculatorpk.com). A 31-line page with a calculator widget and zero grading content — no grade table is published anywhere on the page, so there is nothing to verify its arithmetic against.
- The percentage-band myth (all three, in different forms). GIKI publishes no marks→letter bands. Any calculator that asks for your percentage and outputs a GIKI letter grade is running your marks through an invented mapping. Letters-only input is not a limitation here — it is the only input the university's own published scale supports.
What this calculator deliberately does NOT compute
An honest tool says what it leaves out and why — an unexplained missing feature reads as a thin tool; an explained one reads as honesty.
- CGPA → percentage conversion. No official GIKI mapping exists, so the tool refuses to invent one (the same pattern as our FAST and QAU tools). For job applications, use the number the requesting organization specifies — or ask them.
- Honours and medal predictions. The Academic Setup page publishes no honours thresholds; inventing Dean's-List cutoffs would be fabrication.
- Exact warning/removal procedure. The page states the probation → warning → removal sequence and the 10–13 credit-hour cap, but not the procedural mechanics — the checker reports the stage, not the paperwork.
- Assessment weightage presets. Quiz/midterm/final splits vary by course outline; the tool takes final letter grades, which is where GIKI's published scale starts.
- Relative vs absolute grading. The page does not state whether grades are curved; the tool computes the published table as-is and does not guess.
- Summer fees and exact repeat deadlines. Summer is for failed/D/D+ courses only (max 8 credit hours, paid separately); amounts and calendar dates change — confirm with the registrar.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an A+ grade at GIKI?
No. GIKI's official grade list is A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, F, I, W. The top grade is a plain A worth 4.00 grade points. Any calculator offering an A+ for GIKI is using an invented grade.
What percentage do I need for an A at GIKI?
GIKI publishes no official marks→letter bands, so there is no published answer. Calculators that map percentages to GIKI letters are using invented tables. Use the letter grade on your result notification.
What happens if my semester GPA falls below 2.00?
You are placed on probation and may register for only 10–13 credit hours in the next semester. If your GPA is below 2.00 in two consecutive regular semesters (summer excluded), you receive a warning; continued failure after the warning leads to removal from the rolls.
Can repeating a course lower my CGPA at GIKI?
Yes — this is the rule most students miss. GIKI counts only the latest attempt toward the CGPA, even if it is lower than the original. The Repeat Analyser above shows the before/after numbers with an explicit warning when a repeat would hurt you.
Which courses can I repeat, and when?
A failed (F) required course must be repeated in full. D and D+ grades may be repeated within 3 semesters. All attempts remain on your transcript; only the latest counts in the CGPA.
What are GIKI's summer semester rules?
Summer is restricted to failed, D, and D+ courses, capped at 8 credit hours, and paid for separately. Summer semesters do not count toward the two-consecutive-sub-2.00 standing rule.
What is the attendance requirement?
At least 80% attendance is required to sit the final examinations.
How does course withdrawal work?
Withdrawing between weeks 4 and 10 earns a W grade (no grade points, excluded from the GPA). Withdrawing after week 10 earns an F.
What do I need to graduate from GIKI?
134–135 credit hours depending on faculty, a CGPA of at least 2.00, and completion within a maximum of 6 years.
